Warning: Lame Doodle Ahead
Jeesh, could Laura make Doodle Week #2 any more complicated than asking us to doodle an entire world? In a pincushion teacup, no less. Thankfully, we can twist the theme a bit, however we are inspired. And as my beverage of choice is Diet Coke, and my world view easily put into an icon, I was able to doodle something. Something lame. But Blogger is being a nasty thing and won't let me upload images to my own server, so you'll have to go here to see it. Or not. It doesn't really matter because it's your turn to doodle. Labels: blogging, doodles, weird
Doodle Weakly? Then Doodle Weekly!
Doodle Week is now at The Ungulate. The first week's challenge is "dollies." And you certainly can't do any worse than my pitiful little doll. So go ahead, doodle; I double-doll dare you. Labels: blogging, cartooning, cool, crafting, dolls, kitsch
Looking For Vintage & Retro Fun?
Puppets & Puppet Masters
I don't normally promo the sales of other dealers, but Will at Hang Fire Books took part in my birthday celebration, so he's like family -- like that crazy cousin your parents are always rolling their eyes at but is the most fun to see at extended family get-togethers (sorry, cousin Lisa). Anywayyyy... Will's got a special going on. He's clearing out the current listings in his eBay store (except the "Prints, Plates and Ephemera" catalog) so you can make him offers he can't refuse -- yes, even the pulps! So I just made an offer on Puzzle For Puppets. I loves me puppets, and me puzzles. Keep your fingers crossed that Will likes my low-ball *wink* Labels: blogging, books, collecting, cool, puppets, puzzles
High-Five Fridays: Giving Thanks
Want to give high-fives too? Sure you do! 1) We'd like to thank the fine folks at StumbleUpon for noticing the Kitschy Kitschy Coo. 2) Thanks to Woot for sending folks to play the map game. 3) And many thanks to Dinosaurs and Robots for the linkage as well. 4) Kudos to the Baltimore County Public Library for not only having a zine collection, but blogging about it too. 5) A big ol' howdy to the Cochran's, who stop in at CQ quite often. Labels: blogging, cool, high-five fridays
Birthday Wishes From Verce of Hexperience
Pal Silent Porn Star (*) sent me a charming belated birthday gift -- delivered by Hang Fire Books (also *). (Well, the US post delivered it, but Will sent it. ) It's a delightfully puzzling note on the back of a Sunshine Biscuits invoice sheet: Dear Reader:
Once that thing has slowed down, this book - or any other, will never serve as a rejuvenator. Let the dead rest in peace.
Signed, Verce of Hexperience Let the guesses as to meaning commence. (Possible hints lay in where it was found...? At least I like to think so! *wink*) Labels: birthday, blogging, collecting, cool, ephemera, weird
Get Out Awards, 2/5/08
Here are the first awardees of the Get Out! Kitschy Kitschy Coo Award:Susan Helene Gottfried for the appropriate use of, "Yum Yum" as a comment. Cajunvegan for writing: "You must keep these 'retrolicious' posts going. You are here for my entertainment." It made me feel dirty. In that good kinda way. *wink* That Grrl for saying, "My brother threw away most of my books. Then he goes on and on about how much money I spend, mainly about the money I spend on books. Well, never seems to occur to him that it costs a lot of money to buy the same book three times just so I can read and continue to use it." A-duh. FeeFiFoto for stating that she'd seen a show on how to make clothing out of felted dryer lint. Technically, she ought to have to prove such a thing (the theory is discussed here, which makes it seem less than likely), but as she made me curious enough to Google, she's earned it. DinoCollector for a math-y response. Matthew James Didier for making certain that, "What? Like the back seat of a Volkswagen?" would be stuck in all our heads. Did you earn the award? Then grab a button for your site. If not, keep playing!Labels: blogging, humor, The Get Out Kitschy Kitschy Coo Award
