An antique advertisement for “The Liberty Bicycle” featuring a corseted Victorian beauty holding the American flag illustrated by Edwin H. Kiefer.
A snazzy gang of girls; circa 1940s.
From my copy of Caricature: Wit & Humor of a Nation in Picture, Song & Story, this oddly charming illustration:
The caption reads:
Plumber — A bathtub side car may not be very comfortable, but it’s all right in a rain.
Her sucker says, “I Ate The Whole Thing!” but what really gives the photo its zing is the fact that this pinup poses on a Mattel Big Wheel.
Photo, circa 1960s, via bondman2.
Mom would tie an old alarm clock to the kid’s bike to ensure Junior would be home on time.
Also found in that 1940s Hint Hunt booklet.
