Have A Cow, Valentine

Yeah, Valentine’s Day has passed. But we don’t like to let the romance die. (Plus, we often post stuff as we find it.) Here’s a sweet little Valentine’s Day poem about a cow. And no, it’s not from 4-H — it’s from the American Junior Red Cross (American Junior Red Cross News, February 1953.

Hats Off To The Gun-Toting Cookie

I love cookie cutters, so it kinda kills me to sell this vintage aluminum one depicting a cowboy — or a soldier. The guns say “cowboy”, but the hat says, well, I’m not sure what… In any case, it’s no wonder folks can’t catch the gingerbread man — he’s packin’ heat! Another pic here. Keep up with more of what we sell here and here.

A Very Creepy Cowboy Vintage Valentine

I did show this oddball valentine off in last year’s My Valentines Have Google Eyes post, but I still wanted to make a little video of it too. This vintage die-cut valentine is now available for sale at Exit 55 Antiques — and they will ship to you, if you must have it. You can call the store between 10 am and 5 pm (central time), any day. The phone number is: (218) 998-3088. (Just let them know it can be found on EQ’s shelf in the case with the most vintage and antique Valentine’s Day cards.)

PS Exit 55 Antiques can also be found on the Pasttime Collectibles & Antiques Facebook page.

On This Day In Hedda Hopper History…

February 13, 1957, Hedda Hopper reveals (among other things) that a smiling Marilyn Monroe gave a “No comment” response to direct question about she and hubby Arthur Miller expecting a baby — and this gem:

The Ronnie Reagans will move into their electronic house over the week-end. They took lessons on how to run their electric control board which has almost as many gadgets as there are in a Constellation.

As amused as I am, I will not Google Reagan. Those of you with no Valentine’s Day plans, you now have something to do.
