I drew this in high school, but didn't get around to framing it for a decade or more...



Most people don't 'get' this piece. It's Chief Joseph, pencil sketch on heavy board and a rusty-brown matting, with chicken wire and then surrounded by a huge (the piece is over 39 inches tall) grapevine wreath with dream catcher 'stitches' with pheasant feathers woven in. (There were more feathers, but cats have, over time, carried a few of the feathers off.) To me it respresents that the spirit cannot be bound even if bodies are.

It's been a long time since I've sat down with my charcoal pencils...
