A vision it be for my eyes to see, The color of a rose or a reindeer's nose. Lipstick, fire, cherries and the sun at set, All red. This hue most sets the mood of desire. Advertisers have used red as a lure forever. Red attracts attention. Red is sexy. If it's red people will want it. Why? Well I don't know except that it works. Put three new Corvette's side by side. Identical except for color. One is blue, one is silver and one is red. Which would you choose? You're damn right! Sport cars are red because sport cars are sexy. What is it about red that attracts us? Some people know the power of aroma therapy. Why not color as a mind enhancer? Can you imagine an ice cream sundae without the bright red cherry on top? A Cardinal wearing beige? Green lipstick? Make an association with a pleasurable object onto another and the two will trigger the same response. That is the driving force behind advertising. How many times have manufactures put the same product into a new box with great success? New improved Tide! What the hell is that. Did they come up with a new formula that greatly enhances it's ability to clean. No sir. They changed the spout or they added a different scent. Yet this is done all the time and I may add quite successfully. Let's talk Valentine's Day. As a aside let me caution the gentlemen out there that you may be able to talk yourself out of forgetting your true love's birthday but woe to the man who forgets to honor his main squeeze on Valentine's Day. This day is as red as red can be. Sexy stuff is red. Roses, lingerie, the aforementioned corvette, candy in a heart shaped red box. That doesn't mean you can give her a water pick in a red box. Red is an enhancer, not a gift in and of itself. If you want to grab someone's attention do the Mars thing and make it red.
