Top 10 Reasons to Pick Up a Man at an Auction

#1 He got up early enough to get to it, so he must be interested enough to stay sober the night before.

He’s likely not a drunk.

#2 Common interest.

You must be interested, otherwise, why are you reading this?

#3 Most of these guys are passionate about antiques & collectibles.

Passion. Never underestimate passion. It‘s also nice when a person is passionate about something besides themselves.

#4 Most of them know how to repair stuff. They at least are not afraid of do-it-yourself projects.

If your future includes a house & kids, you can always use a handy-man... He can re-wire that old light fixture you adored so much, but sits in a box in your bedroom closet. And, if necessary, wouldn’t you rather sit through a few episodes of 'This Old House' than endless ESPN channels?

#5 He has (some) money, and knows how to spend it.

He has good taste, well, at least original taste, not some IKEA pre-packaged-some-assembly-required-cuz-it’s-pressboard-taste. If he is re-selling the stuff, he knows how to make a buck. He also has at least $20 spare cash, which is better than most dates you‘ll find.)

#6 Not superficial.

Any guy willing to wake up & drive to an auction for a 6 a.m. viewing is not likely spending 30 minutes with his hair gel. I hate it when a guy has to 'be pretty' every time he leaves the house... He may still very well own Armani, but he has the sense to know when to leave it home. Plus, any man who flirts with & enjoys the company of a woman with morning-face, with not a trace of makeup or artifice, well, 'hello!' This means he can find your attractive when you aren’t at your most fashionista-self either.

#7 He owns a truck.

Even if he doesn’t, ten-to-one he can get one to help you move that fabulous oak armoire in a jiffy.

#8 He owns a truck.

This is not a misprint - it’s worthy of mentioning twice. There’s just something about a man with a truck.

#9 Realistic.

Sure, he’s looking for the perfect piece, but he’ll accept some signs of wear, a chip, a ding... Which means he’ll accept your flaws too. Some are even looking for real fixer uppers. He’s not afraid of work or small imperfections, because ultimately, he knows what a rare find he has.

#10 Dating.

Hopefully the only other dating he’ll be doing is figuring out the date of that piece of pottery, toy rocket, or light fixture wiring.
