Androgynous Pat, The Animal Doodle

I'm not sure the sex of this animal doodled on the subscription card -- heck,I'm not even sure what animal it is! But it's name is, apparently "Pat." Or maybe that was the artist's signature?

This has officially weirded me all the way out - that signature looks completely familiar to me. I went to a summer course for Language class when I was still in school years ago, and my teacher was in a band and played a song for us on our last day. Being the young ones we were, we decided to get his autograph in case they ever became famous (they didn't). His name was Pat and that was exactly how he signed his name - I always remembered it because of the elaborate 'P'. He also drew a picture of the band mascot and it was in that same type of untidy sketching style. Weird!
